UT Knoxville Chapter, NAACP
The mission of the UT Knoxville chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, is to inform students of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities while advancing the status of the Knoxville community and developing intelligent and proactive youth leadership. The chapter makes extraordinary contributions to UT and Knoxville through its programs, initiatives, and service opportunities, including the Black Issues Conference—now in its 15th year, with more than 350 participants—the Black History Month silent march, blood drives, community service, skate night, movie nights, and partnerships with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and the Love Kitchen.
