The Notable UT Woman Award recognizes a female faculty or staff member, student, or alumna whose accomplishments bring great distinction to the university.
UT alumna Mintha Roach’s dedication to her university and community is evident in the many organizations she has served through the years. She has been an executive committee member and president of the UT Alumni Board of Directors and a member of the Haslam College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council. She has served on the search committee for the vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs and as chairwoman of both the UT Chancellor’s Associates and the UT Alumni Board awards committee. She has also served on the UT Foundation Board, the UT Alliance of Women Philanthropists, and the UTAA Strategic Planning Committee. She is equally active in local community boards and commissions. Since 2004, Roach has been the president and CEO of Knoxville Utilities Board, playing an instrumental role in transforming the organization and streamlining its business and operating functions. The YWCA named her a Lifetime Achievement Honoree for being a role model for female community leaders in East Tennessee. Other notable honors include the Haslam College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award and inclusion in the Junior Achievement of East Tennessee Business Hall of Fame.
