Tucker also serves on Education Trust’s Higher Education Policy Council, advocating for equitable higher education access for the over 200,000 students in Tennessee.
What does being a Volunteer mean to you? How has UT empowered you to make a difference in a way you might not have imagined elsewhere?
“I grew up in a town with just 3,000 residents… around old ideas and set-in-stone ways of living. By attending the University of Tennessee, I have been challenged to Volunteer my perspective on issues regarding various student demographics— specifically those within the LGBTQ+ community. Being a Vol, to me, is the ultimate calling that we each must advocate and fight for every student’s ability to succeed in a thriving and supportive community. There is still much work to be done to succeed in this mission, but I know that there is nothing we can’t do if all Volunteers band together!”
