Janine Al-Aseer

Janine Al Aseer

Dr. Janine Al-Aseer is a clinical assistant professor in the Theory and Practice in Teacher Education department within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Her service, research and clinical work focuses on Community Schools and grassroots efforts to ensure equitable outcomes for students, caregivers, and our East Tennessee community.

What does being a Volunteer mean to you? How has UT empowered you to make a difference in a way you might not have imagined elsewhere?

A three-time graduate of the University of Tennessee before her faculty career began, Dr. Al-Aseer has made being a Volunteer a lifelong endeavor. Without UT’s influence on her life, she would not have a community-focused career, access to a rich and diverse support system, or have recruited friends and family to live on the same South Knoxville street as she does. Dr. Al-Aseer relishes sharing her love of the Greater Knoxville community with all her loved ones.

Lynne Miller

Lynne Miller

Lynne is a Clinical Instructor in the College of Nursing and an alumnus of the same. She has been engaged in nursing education during most of her career with the last 15 years preparing Vol Nurses to become leaders in healthcare. Her primary focus is undergraduate nursing education and mentoring students through the Student Nurses’ Association and small group interaction. Her passion remains the initiative she developed and continues to direct, the Precious Prints Project®, providing families grieving the loss of their child who has died a tangible remembrance in the form of a fingerprinted charm.

What does being a Volunteer mean to you? How has UT empowered you to make a difference in a way you might not have imagined elsewhere?

Being a Volunteer means working together with your university, colleagues, students, and community partners to achieve a common goal. Through collaboration, accomplishments can be mutually enjoyed and outcomes magnified. A Volunteer makes a difference!
