The Charles R. Burchett Extraordinary Contributions to Campus Life Award is named for the World War II veteran, former Knox County Schools administrator, and UT dean of students to honor students and student organizations for extraordinary contributions to campus life.
MSL Diversity Educators
The Multicultural Student Life Diversity Educators are an organization of trained undergraduate-level peer educators dedicated to proactive education and advocacy, providing the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s, campus with workshops aiming to empower students to be leaders in a diverse global community.
Through their involvement with academic departments and Division of Student Life offices, the Diversity Educators engage with students, faculty, and staff of all different experiences as part of their mission to foster an environment committed to lifelong learning and continual social development. The Multicultural Student Life Diversity Educators embody the Volunteer spirit by creating spaces for students to learn about themselves and others and explore challenging and timely topics affecting the campus and community. Academic classes in any department, fellow student organizations, peer mentor programs, and student staff seek out the MSL Diversity Educators’ services to enrich their students’ experiences and strengthen the culture of their spaces on campus. Since the team’s resurgence in Fall 2022, the MSL Diversity Educators have been requested to provide facilitations to almost 4,000 students.
